: INTRODUCTION :
Well, the heading says it all.
I had bought Samsung Wave a long time back, and even though people left
it for poor apps, samsung itself left bada OS for Tizen and I myself
bought a Note 2, I still never sold it, for its sleek design and compact
size, at the same time a superb 3.3 inch AMOLED Screen with a classy 5
MP camera.
But, even I wanted android on it, but considering the fact that the guys
at the BLackForest forums were never able to get the modem on the
Samsung Jet GT-S8000 running after booting to android, I knew that was
never possible. The truth, I actually thought it was a really impossible
task to get it running, save the fact to get a FULLY FUNCTIONAL ROM!
But, the guys at XDA Forums are known to make the impossible possible.
This guy, named "Volk204" has made an android ROM, and that too KITKAT!
Talk about impossible!
So, now I know many people in this forum are users of Samsung Wave, and therefore I would like to share this amazing stuff "Volk204" has done.
: Why this tutorial when I can read the official post? :
This tutorial is different from the tutorial in the official post by Volk204.
This is based on what I did to get android on my phone, and since it is
tested, I can assure that it will 100% work if you follow my tutorial to
the letter. This means that it has minimal or no risk at all.
: So what works in this ROM? :
1)Android 4.4.2
CM sources of 13.01.2014
Updated to linux kernel version 3.0.101
270 MB RAM
2) Almost all the apps that I tried have worked, including WhatsApp, UC Browser, MX Player etc.
3)Camera and Video work.
Camera works, but with lower resolutions to give more RAM to OS.
Remember that Wave has just 270 MB of RAM available to the user.
4)Calling
I tried with Airtel SIM and it has been working all right. Other sims, I dont know.
5)Wifi
Awesome! Works without a problem.
: BUGS + My solutions for it :
- Impossible to shut down phone in android, only restart.
Sol: It always restarts in bada, so no problem. It is dual boot.
- Don't leave phone charging without
supervising - if it gets enormously hot, disconnect it - this can
literally blow up battery as there is no overheating protection yet. Do
not leave it connected on 100% - it'll discharge by 1% all the time, and
then recharge, what's very unhealthy for battery.
Sol: Recharge only for two hours. No more than that.
: INSTALLATION PROCEDURE :
Note : For FIRST INSTALLATION, Bada 2.0 is required.
MY BEST ADVICE : If you already have bada 2, factory reset it by this code : *2767*2878#
- Enter Bada Settings->General->Memory and make sure you have at least:
370MB of free "System" memory
160MB of free "User" memory
400MB of free "Applications" memory
- Download BOOTFILES, armlinux_boot for your device:
for 8500:

http://yadi.sk/d/Yz7_dfpkC6Tk
- Download ROM from http://www.multiupload.nl/QS4A17BXXW
- Start Bada.
- Extract zImage from zip and copy it to the storage which is 390MB big.(Internal Storage)
- Copy whole .zip to the SD Card. [For Me, only SD card procedure worked]
- Flash BOOTFILES and FOTA using Multiloader. [ DOWNLOAD MULTILOADER 5.67 - http://www.mediafire.com/?4wotk6yn6y1h5ux]
- Reboot the phone holding Power and Call key.
- FOTA set of red messages should appear, after about 15seconds Badadroid logo shows up.
- Be patient, first bootup will be unresponsive on Badadroid logo for up to 5 minutes.
- CWM Recovery starts, pick:
- "install zip"
- "choose zip from from storage/sdcard1"(Internal Storage 390MB) or "choose zip from storage/sdcard0"(SD Card)
- cm-11-wave-<release id>.zip
- Yes - install
- Reboot holding the Power key
You can remove installation .zip from the User partition from Android level by connecting through USB in MTP mode.
Do not remove zImage file.
Normal bootup is available using
Power+Call keys
CWM Recovery mode is available using
Power+Volume Up keys
CWM Flashing
does overwrite zImage. So every next update you can just flash .zip through CWM.
For activation Performance and Developer Options categories in Settings
you need Settings->About Phone and tap 7 times on Build number
